Discomfort during pregnancy – Here are 5 of the most common complaints!

During some stages of your pregnancy there are various ailments that unfortunately can occur. These are mainly due to the physical changes in your body and the hormones being produced. These changes can lead to discomfort, here are 5 common complaints.

Heartburn.

While harmless heartburn can be quite painful. Heartburn is often experienced as a burning sensation in your chest extending to your throat. The burning sensation you feel is when stomach acids rise up your oesophagus. This article can help you deal with it.

Constipation in pregnancy.

Roughly half of all pregnant women report that they suffer from constipation. When you’re pregnant, large amounts of progesterone circulate in your bloodstream, this can slow the activity of your digestive tract. If you take an iron supplement this could make constipation even worse. If you are having issues with this please ask your doctor on the best course of action.

Morning sickness.

Up to 80% of women experience nausea in pregnancy. Just over 50% of pregnant women experience vomiting. Known as ‘morning sickness’ the nausea or vomiting can occur any time of the day. Have a look at our video to learn more.

Experiencing a headache in pregnancy is very common. The exact reason why women experience more frequent headaches during pregnancy is not clear. It is possible that headaches are linked to hormonal changes and the natural increase in blood circulation in your body during pregnancy.
